Demographics and health history across dementia diagnoses Lead Investigator: Zachary Miller Institution : UCSF Memory and Aging Center E-Mail : zachary.miller2@ucsf.edu Proposal ID : 736 Proposal Description: In the past we have shown that past medical history of autoimmune disease (ZA Miller et al., JNNP 2013) and developmental differences including hand preference (ZA Miller et al., BRAIN 2013) display differential effects on targeting specific neuroanatomies. We are looking to validate on larger cohorts demographic differences across dementia diagnoses. Analyses will take a multi-domain approach starting with diagnosis and demographic information of individuals within groups to investigate associations between their neurologic exam, neuropsychological performance, neuroimaging, and genetic markers. Because demographic and health history information predates neurodegenerative symptom onset by many decades, this work has the potential for facilitating predictive and preventative strategies for dementia.
